Stoptober is back, so give it a go and quit smoking for 28 days. This Stoptober, smokers are being encouraged to end a bad relationship and split up with smoking for 28 days from 1st October.

Early indications from the UCL Smoking Toolkit Study indicate a 2.2% drop in smoking prevalence so far in 2019. Public Health England is encouraging England’s remaining smokers to join in with the nation’s biggest quit attempt and providing them with the information and support they need to split up with smoking now.

If you are a smoker, quitting is the best thing you can do for your health and the health of those around you.

The physical benefits of stopping smoking

 Stopping smoking can significantly improve your lifestyle and health in ways you might not expect.  Some of the benefits are immediate and some are longer term:

  • A 20-a-day smoker can save up to £75.39 a week, £323.10 a month and £3,931 a year by stopping smoking
  • Over the last ten years the cost of tobacco has increased by 97%
